What I wore Wednesday – the Circus edition

Ringmaster red jacket & tails
Velvet full body catsuit (too small – camel toe alert!)
Riding boots
Cumberbund (stupid word!)
Dickie Bow
Top hat
All available to hire from Lili Bizarre in Liverpool for £35

Forgive my slightly demonic face here but yep, this is what I wore yesterday.  It was only for 45 minutes but I wore it.  I think I wore it well too, apart from the bodysuit and the fact it gave me a massive front-bum wedgie.

I love dressing up.  I love being an idiot so this outfit works well.  A clown costume would’ve been more fitting to my personality but unfortunately it’s not my choice this outfit.  “But why?” I hear you cry?  It’s for an event I have coming up.  Voodou – the most fantabulously marvellous fun and hip hairdressers in Liverpool have an annual hairdressing competition and I’m co-hosting it alongside my good friend and colleague Baz Todd.  Now, when you hear ‘hairdressing competition’ what images come to mind?  For me, it’s a mix of scissors, flamboyance and possibly something I wouldn’t ordinarily be interested in.  However, (and this is a BIG however) Voodou are not your ordinary hairdressers.  They’re (let’s put this politely) absolutely nuts!  Which is why I fit in so well there I think.  They’re creative, think out of the box, passionate and above all they love to be different.  They really really aren’t your average hairdressers.  So, their annual training competition isn’t just a chance for their extremely talented trainees and established staff members to show off their artistic flair when it comes to hair, it’s a chance for this zany lot to put on a show, and boy oh boy it’s going to be a good un!  The theme this year is Twisted Circus.

I don’t want to give too much away but myself and Baz are the Ringmasters and I know that there will be Circus performers, special guests including ‘Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ star – dressmaker Thelma Madine and a special performance by one talented lady Miss Chelcee Grimes.  It’s taking place at Cream and all proceeds will go to a fantastic local children’s charity called Claire House.  It’s at 3:30pm on Sunday 27th May, tickets are only a fiver.  What else are you going to be doing on a Sunday afternoon?  Slobbing around in your pyjamas, down the pub willing the footie season to return or rushing to Asda before it closes?  Why don’t you have an afternoon with a difference and see this spectacle.  I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.  And you can see me dressed like a complete muppet.  After all, it’s what I do best.

Now pop along to Transatlantic Blonde’s blog and see what the other ladies are wearing this week.  They will be the ones looking fabulous and stylish and not stupid, like me!
